I know, what does this post have to do with travel? It doesn’t however it involves our kiddos so it’s important. I want to share with you gifts teens want for the holidays to help you with your shopping, to make life easier.
Gifts Teens Want-Blow Their Minds and Surprise Them With Gifts They Acutally Want
Can you agree that buying gifts for teens can be stressful as heck?! Like the worst. Because they want expensive things like phones and tablets. Or do they?
With the help of my teenage daughters, we polled their peers asking “what gifts do teens actually want” for the holidays, under $30 of course. And the lists came in fast and the items are simple and easy!

Gifts Teens Want-Girls
- Hair Clips- Fashions always come back around, flashback to the ’80s and ’90s with hair clips. Anyone remember banana clips? I think I still have mine from when I was a kid.
2. Perfume/Body Spray- I had to get clarification on this one, ha! Where do teens buy perfume? Bath and Body Works for the win. So now we both know!
3. Decorative pillows- If you haven’t noticed, teens are big into decorating their rooms. Because their rooms are like their own little apartment. And pillows, well gosh they are an easy way to spruce up any room.
4. Jelwery-Necklaces and rings- To clarify, you do not need to spend a lot of money on these items. Target has a huge assortment to meet the tastes and budget of anyone on your list!
5. Candles-Once again, Bath and Body to score the best candles. A popular scent is Gingham or In The Stars.
6. Throw blankets- How many blankets does one person need? Apparently, there is no limit, ha! And yes, sherpa is key to a great blanket I am told.
7. Nail Polish- My girls and I have learned not to go cheap when it comes to nail polish. We like OPI because it lasts the longest on our nails, sometimes even better than going to the salon. So many colors to choose from, however so I picked a popular holiday color to make it easy for you. You’re welcome 😊.
8. Sugar Body Scrubs- A favorite brand is Tree Hut. Self-care is a great thing to learn at an early age thus using sugar scrubs is a wonderful way to start!
9. Fuzzy Slippers and Socks-This is a gift that never gets old. Because year after year teens will ask for these. And, they are great for secret Santa or items to gift a shelter as well!
10. Fuzzy Pajamas- Again, another item that never gets old and can be rebought year after year.
11. Plants- My daughter has bought so many live plants only to be disappointed by them shriveling up and dying no matter how much she has babied them. Thank goodness for fake plants that look so dang real! Succulents are a great addition to a teen’s room or bathroom. Then they can continue focusing on themselves, not the plant, ha!
12. Sunglasses- Blenders sunglasses are great quality for the price and there are so many options. Blenders Eyewear is a personal choice as I have owned many pairs. However, most options do not fall within $30, therefore, I suggest buying a gift card and letting them choose the best pair to fit their personality.
Gifts Teens Want- Boys
- Baseball Hats- Boys can never have enough hats! For example, with only two males in our house, we have enough hats for an NFL team. And…I admit I love hats, in fact I have many to add to the collection in our house!
2. Nike Socks- One item that never stops being asked for. And why is it that boys go through socks so fast???
3. Stance Socks- And, more socks! According to the Stance website, they turned socks into one of the world’s most exciting accessories. Huh, pretty cool I guess! Their socks come in many funky patterns for art and self-expression. In other words, dare to be different!
4. Pocket Knives- Every man in my family carries a pocket knife, in fact, my 14-year-old daughter carries one. It’s like moms carrying a purse, it is an essential item 😆!
For Everyone
- Phone Cases- An accesory every phone needs. And they are cheap enough to have a different one for every month of the year. I find the best options on Amazon.
2. Gift Cards- The list is endless here! With that said, these are the top places: Starbucks, Caribou, Target, Walmart, Bath and Body Works, American Eagle, Scheels, Amazon, Tj Maxx, Taco Bell, Culvers, Crumble Cookie, gas stations, Lulu Lemon, Cupshe, and Blenders.
3. Candy- And fill that stocking with candy! Giving a gift card? Wrap the gift card in with a TON of candy!
4. Carhartt Stocking Hats– Anything Carhartt seems to be a hit within the last year. One size fits all and so many color options to choose from.
5. Hydroflask- Another hot item in the last year. Yet, I feel like water bottles are always popular. How many does one person or even one family need? The answer… a LOT!
6. Sweatshirts- Oversized, cropped, hooded, pockets, your parents ripped and worn college sweatshirt, and thrift store find are all popular with teens.
